What kind of battery does the PWR Dually use?
The Dually uses the best in class 48V/17.5Ah/840Wh Lithium-ion battery made of Samsung cells. This battery is only a quarter of the weight of lead-acid batteries, and the life expectancy is two times that of lead-acid batteries.
How long does it take to charge?
The battery takes between 4–6 hours to fully charge if it's fully depleted. Read this manual to learn how to charge your Roam battery– it's easy! Make sure the light on the converter box is green before you go for a long ride. Green means your battery is completely charged.
How far can I go on a single charge?
This depends on many factors including speed, payload, terrain, and other environmental conditions because every adventure is different. Generally, you can expect to go up to 25 miles or 2 hours on a single charge when the battery is fully charged and in good condition.
How can I maximize battery life while riding?
Well, if you ride at full-throttle the whole time, you are going to see decreased performance. There's not really any way around that! Otherwise, there's not much for you to do besides enjoy your ride and keep an eye on your LCD. Reducing weight on the Roam, ensuring the tires are properly inflated, and avoiding cold temps help, too.
How do I best maintain my battery?
Lithium-ion batteries naturally lose capacity over time. The Roam battery has a 1-year warranty. If you experience poor performance within 1 year, the battery may be defective, and you should let us know. After 1 year, the battery will gradually lose capacity, but with proper maintenance should last 3–4 years. Here's how to maximize the lifetime of your Roam battery:
1. Consider charging your battery to just 90% when you aren't going to go for a long ride where you need max battery capacity. Charging to 100 percent can deplete the lifetime of your battery faster. Also, we recommend you avoid depleting the battery down to zero whenever possible.
2. Don't store or charge your battery in extreme temperatures or in direct sunlight. We recommend charging and storing your battery indoors where it's warm. If you live in a cold climate, don't charge or keep your battery in the garage or the shed. Keep it in the house. And if you're transporting the bike on your vehicle, take the battery off. Especially if it's cold or hot outside. And don't leave your battery in a very hot car!
3. Don't store the battery at 100%. If you don't think you'll ride your Roam for a time, then make sure the battery capacity is closer to 50%. If it's months that you won't ride it, we recommend filling it 100% and discharging it to around 50% every couple weeks.
4. Keep your battery clean and dry. If you've been riding in wet conditions, make sure to fully dry the battery and the surrounding area. Wipe off dirt and dust. This will prevent corrosion.
